Show & Tell

Good Morning! My show and tell today is actually a question. For Christmas I received this cute little cherub thing that is stamped Germany on the bottom but I'm not sure what it used for. My dad said it looked like it was for holding cigarettes, but I said it looks like it is to be used as a bud vase. What do you think it is for?
Be sure to go to Make Mine Pink and check out what all the other ladies have been up to this past week.

Until next time...

Hi Shannon, I'm definitely not the one to answer your question but I'd have to agree with you. It looks as though one could arrange a lovely bouquet of flowers in this. It could have been used as an elegant dinner center piece. It's a beautiful. I'm sure someone will have your answer. Have a great day!

Hi Shannon.....well, I love a good mystery...LOL I would use it as a table centerpiece with taper candles and flowers. Somehow cigarettes just wouldn't look as pretty!!! :)

I think I have to agree, looks like you should put some flowers in there, roses would be my choice and have the most elegant centerpeice! Of course, you could repurpose a bit and have one gorgeous creampuff sitting on each little vase for a dessert centerpiece. Whatever it's real purpose it's a lovely piece.

Hmmm, I'm thinking flowers or candles as well. I think Susan at Dutch Rose could answer this. She's quite the smart one in the group when it comes to questions such as this.
Keep us posted when you find out.
Hugs to you,

Hi Shannon,
Well I can't solve the mystery either. It is a really pretty piece and I have to agree with everyone else. It would sure look good with flowers in it.

Hi Shannon,
We recently sold a very similar item. We too did lot's of research and could never figure out exactly what it was. A cigarette holder or flower frog were our best guesses! Let us know when you find out!

Hi Shannon,

I am not sure what they are used for, but I think rose buds and candles would look really lovely in it. Show us when you have an idea!

Well, I am finally getting here...and I see I have been noted...it is a flower frog...I bought several at auction a few months ago...they were very popular in the early 1900s among the wealthy women...I found a price guide on them even...
